Location: With exciting projects nationally, the ideal candidate can be based anywhere throughout the UK! This is predominantly a remote working role, however you may be required to come into our London office for occasional meetings, or social events.

The role
As our Senior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for leading, designing and developing Renewable Heating Systems for a range of renewable energy, heat network projects. These will include 4th and 5th generation heat networks, energy centers and distribution through multi occupancy developments, including new-build housing developments, hotels, schools and commercial buildings.
You will be working as part of the mechanical design team to deliver projects from feasibility through to construction. This is a technical role and will enable you to work on all parts of the project from upfront strategic planning, right through to project management and implementation.
Your work will include:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to lead the design of Rendescos Heating Networks, Energy Centres, Plant Rooms, and Ambient Networks, including GLD-based borehole modelling. In this key role, you will support and enhance project designs, coordinate with clients, provide technical input for tenders, and produce calculations, specifications, and submittals. Strong BIM and Revit experience are essential, along with the ability to review models and support 2D CAD work. You will also guide the design of ambient systems such as boreholes and lake collectors, ensuring compliance with CP1, CIBSE, and HNTAS standards while driving continuous innovation.
About you
The ideal candidate for the Senior Design Engineer role will possess a unique blend of industry experience, strong time management and coordination skills, and a comprehensive understanding of heat networks and district energy centres, essential for driving our constant improvement process.
Education:
- A bachelor's degree in building services or a related field is preferred, but HNC will be considered alongside experience.
- A master's degree or professional certifications in HVCA, Mechanical Engineering and Building services, such as MEng, will be highly regarded.
- MCIBSE and CEng preferred, but can be worked towards, depending on experience.
Experience and Skills:
- Strong experience in the design of commercial and domestic heat pump systems and renewable heating networks.
- Ideally at least 10 years of HVCA mechanical/electrical design experience.
- Strong experience in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Consultancy and/or Mechanical installations.
- Strong experience in design packages e.g., AutoCAD, REVIT, COMSOF, GLD etc.
- Detailed knowledge of heat networks and utility services.
- Detailed working knowledge of industry regulations, M&E design, and installations.
- Experience in System design and coordination
- Knowledge of CP1 and Heat Networks
- Preference to be a registered CIBSE consultant
- Experience in electrical design would be a benefit
